Create a brand identity and web site for a new social enterprise in India. This ecotourist organization (and our 2009 Green Grant winner) works with local families to give tours, build sustainable guest housing, and provide food for guests, while funneling the profits back to the very communities that are providing the tours. The target audience is European travelers as well as middle-class Indians who were interested in using their tourist dollars to learn more about and assist with the preservation of the water source at the base of the Himalayan mountain range. The logo had to reflect the grandeur of the location, and the web site had to show off the beauty of the region and entice travelers to register for one of the tours.
The logo was designed as the snow-capped mountain range with a waterfall to reflect the majesty of the location, and to give viewers immediate recognition of what they would encounter on a tour. The web site utilizes a rotating feature area to showcase images of the region. Icons for each tour are right on the home page to give a quick summary of each, with dates and costs. The latest in blogging and social media was added to allow travelers to upload images, provide comments, and interact via Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, and other social media outlets. Tours can be ordered via a simple online form. Biographies of the tour guides are available, as well as a wealth of information about the region.
